Challenge-Connect-Change

By Natalie Zundel, CFRE, Executive Vice President, ASCE Foundation

Over one hundred association foundation fundraisers (and maybe you!) took time out of their busy days on May 12th to attend our national conference in DC. They challenged themselves to get out of the office, connect with their peers, and change how they drive impact.

The day launched with an amazing keynote from Sara Brenner, President of Community Wealth Partners, who challenged us to move from incremental to transformational change with 10 tips to change our frame of mind. One of the most tweeted tips about creating shared leadership, asked attendees to think about “the hard part of giving up control and focusing on your contribution.”

The day continued breakout sessions ranging from data-driven planned giving to Giving Tuesday partnerships. The main room was packed again during the luncheon keynote to hear Evan Burfield, co-founder of 1776, connect us with cutting-edge ideas on how technology, as it matures, is poised to help solve hard, complex social problems.

We closed the day, after some more stellar breakout sessions, with the always enlightening legal expert, Paula Cozzi Goedert. Paula, after years of leadership on legal issues facing association foundations, was awarded the AFG Leadership Award.

If you were lucky enough to see these amazing speakers in action, please help us make the 2017 conference (save the date for May 11, 2017) even better by completing the attendee survey.

And a final – very BIG THANK YOU – to our amazing sponsors & exhibitors:
